Rates The cost associated with seniors housing in British Columbia is dependent on various factors, including the type of housing and services required. Golden Life Management provides four types of housing: life lease purchase, independent living, assisted living and residential care. Depending on the type of housing required, some funding from Interior Health and/or BC Housing may be available. Life Lease purchases are not government funded. Neither are the monthly fees that cover the common costs associated with the exterior maintenance of the home, including grounds maintenance, management fees, taxes and house insurance. Independent Living also known as Supportive Housing, is not eligible for any government subsidies. Rental rates are stable, with increases levied only for cost of living-related increases to utilities. Assisted Living is partially funded by Interior Health and BC Housing. The funding is linked to the resident’s income, which is ideal for seniors on a fixed income. Rental rates will not change, but levies to cover cost of living-related utility increases may be applied. Residential Care including all housing, hospitality and care services, is fully funded by the BC government through Interior Health. To receive funding, residents must be assessed by an Interior Health representative who determines if Residential Care is required. All types of seniors housing, with the exception of Life Leases, are paid for monthly and include cost of the following:
Rental subsidies for assisted living and residential care housing may be available for people who have lived in British Columbia for the past twelve months. Our staff can provide more information regarding seniors housing subsidies and direct you to the appropriate agencies. Visit the BC Housing website at www.bchousing.org for more information about subsidies.
