Our beautiful three-storey building features 77 private suites and numerous common areas designed specifically for seniors: accessibility features promote independence and comfortable spaces encourage residents to visit and mingle. Charming studios and one- and two-bedroom suites allow seniors to enjoy a safe, rewarding and independent lifestyle. Residents enjoy organized recreation activities, scheduled outings, complimentary transportation and delicious nutritious meals and snacks. Our Red Seal chefs prepare a selection of fresh, delicious and nutritious food daily. Residents may choose to dine in our comfortable dining room, where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily, or invite their guests to a join them in our private dining room. Castle Wood Village is located in southern British Columbia’s beautiful West Kootenay mountains, steps away from downtown Castlegar and its shops, restaurants and services. We are minutes away from the Castlegar and District Community Health Centre and a short drive from the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail. Castlegar is a friendly community that offers residents a wealth of recreational and cultural options, as well as limitless scenic views. The region’s world-class ski resorts, championship golf, hiking and fishing, to name a few popular activities, encourage us all to get out and enjoy the fresh air. Closer to town, the city boasts numerous churches and service clubs, as well as a busy roster of arts and cultural events. Known as the hub of the Kootenays, Castlegar hosts the West Kootenay region’s airport and Nelson, Trail, the Slocan Valley and Grand Forks are all less than an hour's drive away.
Linda Frew and Jane Phillips, Community Managers On the desk of Castle Wood Villages’ Community Managers, Linda and Jane, sits a gift from a wise resident. It says: “Love like you have never been hurt. Sing like no one is listening. Work like you don’t need the money. Dance like no one is watching.” Linda Frew After thirteen years as a paramedic for BC Ambulance Service and four years with the Lifeline Program, Linda came to Castle Wood Village five years ago. Her leisure hours are spent gardening, quading, fishing and with her never-ending quest to take the perfect picture. Jane Phillips Jane has commuted from her home in Fruitvale to her job at Castle Wood Village for almost five years now.
