Lake View Village, in the historic city of Nelson, provides independent living and private pay assisted living housing, hospitality and support services for one affordable monthly rate.
Private-pay assisted living suites and services provide options for seniors who wish to take advantage of the Golden Life Assisted Living program, without a health authority case manager’s assessment and without waiting for subsidy approval.
Ninety suites, including charming studios and one- and two-bedroom suites are located in our specially-designed seniors community. Private, accessible suites provide all the comforts of home, as well as easy access to any assistance that might be required, a fun schedule of organized recreational activities and enjoyable company. A centrally located elevator provides convenient access to many common areas, including a library, games room, fitness room, bistro, computer lab, many comfortable lounges and our elegant dining room.
Each day professional chefs create a selection of delicious meals. Residents’ appetites are tempted and their nutritional needs are met by a wide selection of fresh and tasty foods prepared for lunch and dinner. Meals are served in the dining room and tray service is available for those times when residents feel like staying home. Tempting snacks, and coffee are always available in the coffee room.
Lake View Village provides easy access to an abundance of recreational activities, as well as a variety of the businesses required a regular basis. Play scenic golf courses, relax in hot springs, take in the several summer arts festivals, hike stunningly beautiful provincial parks and ski at world-class resorts. Or, simply take a short walk to the shops, restaurants and services in our historic and lively downtown. Lake View Village is only minutes away from Nelson’s Kootenay Lake Hospital in southern British Columbia’s beautiful Selkirk Mountains.

Over her 30 year career in Health Care, Julie Garrick (nee Olsen) has had the opportunity to travel and experience life in towns from here to England. She has been in our ‘neighbourhood,’ since June 2002 when she worked at Castle Wood Village until transferring to Joseph Creek Village in 2007. We’re thrilled that she is bringing her experience and enthusiasm to Lake View Village.
No matter where she finds herself, she values her time outdoors – boating, camping and walking her dogs rank high among her favourite things to do. She also enjoys working with Golden Life Management residents because “they teach me so much about life.”
