Pace Setter Construction

Pace Setter Construction specializes in the development, design and construction of seniors housing, including single family homes, apartment buildings, and supportive housing and residential care communities. We aim to ensure that seniors throughout British Columbia enjoy a high quality of life – and we recognize that it all starts with the perfect building.
Pace Setter Construction has been building quality, custom housing since 1979, when Endre Lillejord founded the company in his hometown of Cranbrook, BC. The company turned its focus to seniors housing in the mid-1990s.
At that time, Endre could not find suitable seniors housing for his mother. Housing that provided choices, services, and environments that supported independence and dignity were not commonly available. Cold, institutional facilities were the norm.
In characteristic fashion, Endre decided to fix his town’s senior housing problem himself. Using Pace Setter Construction, Endre built a welcoming, home-like housing community and created Golden Life Management to operate it; Joseph Creek Village welcomed its first residents – including Mrs. Lillejord – in 1998.
Since building our first seniors housing community in 1998, Pace Setter Construction has worked exclusively for Golden Life Management. Pace Setter’s close ties with the progressive seniors housing provider puts it in a unique position to identify specific seniors housing requirements, improve upon existing standards and, by seeing first-hand how existing buildings evolve and support the people who live in them, anticipate future needs.
Pace Setter Construction staff regularly re-visit Golden Life Management communities and talk with the people who live and work there to see how design and construction choices impact people. Building upon past experience ensures that everything we create is the best it can possibly be.
